धौरैया विधान सभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र बिहार के 243 विधान सभा क्षेत्रों में से एक है और यह बांका लोकसभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र का भाग है, जिसमें धौरैया के साथ साथ अमरपुर, कटोरिया, बेलहर और बांका विधानसभा क्षेत्र भी आते हैं. यह बांका जिले का हिस्सा है, जो ऐतिहासिक तौर पर बेहद समृद्ध रहा है. धौरैया विधानसभा में रजौन के सीडी प्रखंड और धौरैया प्रखंड सम्मिलित हैं.

यहां प्रथम चुनाव वर्ष 1951 में हुए थे और उक्त समय पशुपति सिंह यहां से विधानसभा पहुंचे थे. वर्ष 2015 में हुए विधानसभा चुनावों में इस सीट से जनता दल यूनाइटेड के मनीष कुमार ने आरएलएसपी के भूदेव चौधरी को हराकर जीत हासिल की थी और विधायक के तौर पर यह उनका लगातार दूसरा कार्यकाल है.

गौरतलब है कि बांका जिला महाभारतकालीन समय में अंगप्रदेश की राजधानी के तौर पर विख्यात रहा है और भारतीय स्वतंत्रता आन्दोलन के समय यह इस स्थान का योगदान अग्रणीय रहा है. 20वीं सदी में स्वदेशी आंदोलन, गाँधी जी के असहयोग और सविनय अवज्ञा आंदोलन का खासा प्रभाव बांकाजिले पर रहा है. वर्ष 1930 में केवल इसी जिले से 1600 से अधिक क्रांतिकारियों को गिरफ्तार किया गया था.
